Police are looking for a 48-year-old yachtsman, believed to be missing from a vessel at Port Stephens.
The 26 foot yacht called ‘FireFly’ was spotted at Samurai Beach by a member of the public at about 3pm yesterday, who swam out to to find the boat empty and dropped the anchor to secure it.
A number of marine authorities are searching for a man from Tasmania who was believed be have been living aboard.
Belongings believed to have come from the boat have also been found, with emergency services saying it suggests the man may have fallen overboard.
