SEVEN ARRESTED IN HUNTER DRUG BUST
Seven people have been charged and police have seized drugs and more than $100,000 in cash, as part of an ongoing investigation into a methamphetamine ring in the NSW Central Hunter region.
Police searched 18 properties yesterday, including residential and industrial premises, a hotel and a storage shed. Three of the search warrants were executed by Queensland police on the Gold Coast.
They arrested three women – aged 23, 49 and 42 – and two men – aged 23 and 44.
Two men – aged 29 and 45 – were arrested on the Gold Coast and are awaiting their extradition today.
The 29-year-old man was charged with supplying a prohibited drug of a large commercial quantity and knowingly directing the activities of a criminal group.
The 45-year-old man was charged with the same offences, as well as three counts of supplying prohibited drugs.
The five people arrested in NSW were also charged with offences including supplying prohibited drugs.
Detective Acting Inspector Mitchell Dubojski, the Central Hunter Local Area Command Acting Crime Manager, said the arrests were the result of a lengthy investigation by detectives.
“Investigators have been involved in numerous inquiries with the objective of shutting down a significant drug supply operation,” he said.
“All of the officers involved should be extremely proud of their work.”
“I urge anyone with information about the manufacture or supply of illegal drugs to contact police immediately.”
