Goodman Fielder’s Tamworth site, better known as Buttercup Bakery has announced it’ll close its doors on June 28, following the latest company review.
30 employees with either be relocated or offered redundancy.
Managing Director Julie Coates says production work is being shifted to Sydney and Canberra.
“So we will have one less manufacturing site as a result of our review, that means we can be more efficient than we are today and it also allows us to distribute the product more efficiently than we do today.”
The company insists the decision won’t impact North West customers.
“Post June 28 we will continue to consolidate and distribute bread from this site for a few months until we’re able to transfer that to the other sites in New South Wales, the site will completely close from September this year.”
