Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Centre marked a milestone today, announcing for the first time in a decade the community has been given full control.
The centre was formerly managed by an external body, including its funding.
One of the board’s first priorities under the new agreement is to progress its purpose built facility.
“A part of that strategic plan is for us to consult with our community, to let our community know they have a say now in terms of where we need to lead the direction of TAMS.”
While it specialises in Aboriginal health, the medical centre is open to anyone living in the region.
