Police have detained eight people during a recent two day shoplifting operation at South Tamworth Coles supermarket.
Four people were issued court attendance notices for stealing, another two were fined $300 each, while a male and female were charged with stealing, drug possession and resisting arrest.
The news follows yesterday’s release of the latest crime statistics, which revealed retail theft jumped nearly 66 per cent in Tamworth in the 24 months to December last year.
