LISMORE COUNCIL TO PUSH FOR ‘GAS EXCLUSION ZONE’

Lismore Council will now write to the state government, requesting the area be made a gas exclusion zone – similar to parts of the Hunter.

The motion, approved seven votes to three at last night’s council meeting, was moved by Deputy Mayor Simon Clough.

He fears under the current draft north coast regional plan, the state government could once again license CSG mining in the region.

Lismore is also asking neighboring councils to voice their concerns.
