FORMER POLICE OFFICER SENTENCED AFTER CRICKET BAT ATTACK
A former police officer found guilty of attacking a man with a cricket bat in Newcastle last year, has been placed on a two-year good behaviour bond.
Micheal Varnum hit Peter Lalor twice over the head, after the pair collided during a lower grade match between Merewether and Jewels.
Varnum was also fined $1000.
