ST JOSEPH’S SHINE IN RUGBY SEVENS
St. Joseph’s Primary has cleaned up during the New South Wales rugby sevens competition in Taree today, with both the girls and boys teams selected to progress to the next stage of competition in Crescent Head.
And with the sevens format offering more space on the field, players certainly used the additional room to show off their skills.
“rugby 7’s is a very important pathway at the moment as you might know it’s an olympic sport as of this year so come 8-12 years we might see some of these kids running around in the Gold jersey for Australia, NSW Rugby Development Officer James Perrett said.
Students from Wingham, Harrington and Taree took part in the competition.
It’s hoped the event will help attract more interest in rugby union across the Mid North Coast.
