Harmony festival!? It was one of the worst displays of police brutality I have ever seen! I am not from Coffs Harbour & was travelling through the area heading north, a friend suggested we stop in at the Harmony festival on the way through. We were there for an hour & saw a transgender person get quickly bundled up by 2 burly police men & literally thrown (aggressively & forcibly) into the back of a police wagon. I was trying to work out why. Because he was wearing women’s clothes or because he had started dancing up near the front of the stage?? This particular person didn’t seem to be bothering anyone (well not until a few different people started giving him a hard time, tried to get him to leave, & then the police were brought in). I can not believe this happened in front of everyone & I cannot believe how these 2 police officers treated this person, it was shear brutality, & at a so called “harmony” festival. You talk about Coffs becoming a multicultural city, yet today I could not believe the lack of intolerance I witnessed for someone choosing a different gender orientation or way of dressing. I will not be heading back to Coffs Harbour in a hurry.
Hi Jen, that guy is a very, very dangerous man. From the appearance, he seems to be a pretty decent guy. But as the matter of fact, he involved in a lot of crime scenes. He robbed, he violent people & frightened the local kids at church. There have been a warning to community to keep an eyes on their kids… As a results, he is a wanted man. As for a police men it’s their job to acts on people safety, and i’m quite glad they have accomplished their job in a way of serving people.

Jen, the person that you are talking about, although you may have witnessed a completely different scene to the one I saw, the person on seperate occasions at the festival was using sharp weapons to crowd members and artists and was hassling the performers at times. I am all for Harmony love this festival and think after tens years its got a great reputation for laying some significant harmony foundations in the Coffs Harbour region. Jen I wish you all the best on your travel and hope you can come back to Coffs soon.
