Singleton’s ongoing flying fox problem has taken another twist, with a council worker injured while undertaking maintenance in Burdekin Park.
As a result, council’s decided to suspend all work in the park and has closed the playground and public toilets.
A recent count put the park’s flying fox population at 12,000.
Council was recently given approval to remove two trees and trim another five, but can’t do so until after the breeding season.
