Medicinal cannabis campaigner Lucy Haslam says she’s been overwhelmed by support for her not-for-profit organisation, United in Compassion, which has been running less than a year.
She hopes the organisation will continue to play a role in education.
“We’re doing the next symposium in May in Sydney, so we’ll have more international speakers coming and you know this year we’ll be targeting doctors and allied health staff.”
Meanwhile Mrs Haslam hopeful licenses to grow the medicinal cannabis are approved as soon as possible, following the introduction of legislation into federal parliament this week.
“That could be some time away, but we’re trying to anticipate what the regulations might be and really to build the framework so we can offer to be a provider.”
