45 YEARS BEHIND THE LENS AT NBN TELEVISION

Cameraman Trevor Bush has just notched up a remarkable 45 years at NBN Television and he’s still going strong.

As a production cameraman, Trevor works as part of the team behind NBN’s live evening news bulletins, as well as shooting commercials, live sport and other programs. At times, he also works as a floor manager during the news.

Trevor started at NBN’s Newcastle headquarters at the age of 18 and learnt his skills on the job.

His two greatest passions are sport and music – so it’s no surprise one of his career highlights so far includes shooting an interview and two tracks with Cold Chisel in 2004. He fondly remembers being the only camera operator at the job and capturing footage, as the iconic Aussie rock group played Flame Trees and Four Walls to a lucky few.

The TV veteran and father of two has also worked on the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2000 Olympic Games, several NRL grand finals and countless Newcastle Knights games.

Originally from Taree, he says he was “stoked” to start his career working with Murray Finlay on NBN News.
Trev recalls feeling “starstruck” as a teenager, when he first met the former NBN newsreader.

Trevor’s school career advisor warned him against working in television, as it can be a tough industry to crack into, but he’s glad he followed his dream.

He credits his long career to the variety of the work, his colleagues and the people he meets through the job.

A message from NBN Television’s CEO Deborah Wright….

Congratulations to NBN’s Trevor Bush on reaching a milestone of 45 years of exemplary service to NBN Television.

I would particularly like to recognise his wonderful contribution behind the camera for our 6pm news bulletin and with NBN’s broadcast division over the past 4 and a half decades, working on many and varied local telecasts and programs over the years from in the studio to major outside events.

Trevor is a well-known face of NBN in many areas of the community, especially with the sporting community, for the work he has done for many years behind the camera at outside broadcasts.

What a marvellous career and what an absolute gentleman.

The entire NBN family is extremely proud of your wonderful achievements Trev!!

Below is a gallery of some of Trev’s pics from over the years.
