31-YEAR-OLD CHARGED OVER ATTEMPTED HOLD-UP IN ADAMSTOWN
A 31-year-old man has been charged, following a hold-up at a service station in Adamstown yesterday afternoon.
Police allege the man stormed a petrol station on Glebe Road at about 5:30pm, and threatened a 28-year-old woman with a knife.
She fled and called for help.
The man was arrested a short time later, allegedly assaulting an officer in the process.
During a search of the man, police claim they located a small tomahawk and an amount of drugs, while a knife was located a short distance away.
The man has been charged with a number of offences including being armed with intent to commit indictable offence, assaulting police, resisting arrest and possessing amphetamines.
He faced Newcastle Local Court today and will reappear early next month.
