FINES ISSUED OVER BAYSWATER CHEMICAL SPILL

AGL Macquarie has been fined $30,000 over a chemical leak at its Bayswater Power Station near Muswellbrook.

The Environment Protection Authority says 6,000 litres of sulphuric acid was discharged into two stormwater drains on November 24 last year.

The spill eventually found its way into Tinkers Creek.

The E-P-A says the leak was the result of equipment failure.
