SEA FOG ENGULFS BEACHES

There was an eerie scene across Newcastle’s beaches this morning when they were engulfed by a sea fog.

A pre-frontal trough moved up the coast earlier this morning bringing with it a light southerly.

The cool air mass moving over the warmer water causes the air to reach dew point which is when clouds and fog are formed.

NBN weatherman Gavin Morris says the wind will swing around and the nor’wester will win the day. There’ll be relief in the form of a southerly which is due to pass through the Central Coast and Hunter around midnight.

Temperatures will reach the low 40s in much of eastern Australia.
