GOLD COAST SCHOOLIES SECURITY BOOSTED IN WAKE OF TERROR ATTACK.

Extra police will protect Schoolies revellers on the Gold Coast this year, with security boosted in the wake of the weekend terror attacks in Paris.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk made the announcement yesterday, but was quick to point out there is no known terror threat in Queensland.

“I have this morning spoken with the police Commissioner and he has advised me very clearly that there is no known threat in Queensland,” Ms Palaszcuk said.

“Let me repeat that, there is no known threat in Queensland.”

“The police Commissioner has advised me that the police will be putting in place extra additional resources down there,” she said.

“Because we do take any event of significance very seriously.”

She also offered her condolences to the people of France.

“Everybody has been touched by the tragedy that we have witnessed in Paris over the weekend,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“People going about the normal business, going to a concert, going to a football game, going to bars and restaurants. And we must condemn these acts. So Queensland stands shoulder to shoulder with Paris and the French authorities.”
