A 35-year-old man will face Tweed Heads Local Court today, after he allegedly stole a car and led police on a chase on the north coast.
It’s alleged the accused approached a 69-year-old man sitting in a Toyota Camry at the Kennedy Drive boat ramp in Tweed Heads yesterday morning and forced him out of the drivers seat before stealing the car.
Police started a pursuit after they noticed the car being driven erratically on the Pacific Highway at Clothiers Creek, but it was terminated a short time later.
The car later ran into the back of another vehicle north of Ewingsdale Road.
He was later arrested in a car park, and charged with robbery, assault, and driving in a dangerous manner.
