HUNTER NIPPERS PROGRAM COULD GO GLOBAL

A special initiative run by Hunter nippers could go global, with delegates from South East Asia today visiting Nobbys Beach to assess the program.

‘New Wave’ teaches water safety to children with a disability.

“Some of these people have never been to the beach, some of these kids don’t like the sand it’ll take us three weeks just to get them to walk down on the beach before they’ll take part and some won’t even go into the water for ages and then we’ve got to drag them out, they’re having such a good time”, says Andrew Griffiths from Nobbys Surf Life Saving Club.

Nobbys is one of the few clubs in the state to host the program, but it’s hoped it may be introduced in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.
