YANCOAL APPEALS LAND AND ENVIRONMENT COURT DECISION
Those fighting another Hunter Valley mine project are hopeful a Land and Environment Court ruling will be upheld.
Last year the court ruled Yancoal’s Ashton South East open cut mine could only proceed if the mine owned all of the land in its lease.
80-year-old Wendy Bowman, who holds a key portion of that land, is refusing to sell.
Today, lawyers for the Chinese-owned company appealed the decision in the Supreme Court, arguing the judge didn’t have the power to impose it.
