Last night we revealed taxpayers are footing expensive legal bills for politicians under scrutiny by the Independent Commission Against Corruption, including $1.3-million for Eddie Obeid’s lawyers.
A freedom of information request to the New South Wales government has also found taxpayers picked up the tab for Hunter politicians who faced the ICAC last year.
Former Port Stephens MP Craig Baumann charged the state $25,000 for his legal costs.
The people of New South Wales also paid $20,000 to the lawyers of former Newcastle MP Tim Owen and $5,000 for former Member for Charlestown Andrew Cornwell.
