The Clarence Valley is a step closer towards being CSG-free, following an announcement the state government has bought back Petroleum Exploration Licence 457.
The licence, which covered 75,000 hectares of land west of Yamba, was purchased from from E-R-M Gas.
Since the start of the buy-back scheme, the state government claims to have reduced the state’s coal seam gas footprint by just over 50 per cent.
