A 47-year-old man has been charged with assaulting police, after he allegedly spat in the eye of an officer during his arrest in West Tamworth yesterday.
The man was arrested after he allegedly pulled a knife and stole a mobile phone from two tradesmen on Quinn Street at about 3.30pm.
Its alleged the man spat at the male officer as he was being escorted into a police car.
The man was also charged with armed robbery and assault with intent to rob.
