MOTHER ALLEGEDLY CAUGHT FIVE TIMES OVER THE LIMIT DURING SCHOOL PICK UP
Police have issued a wake-up call to drivers to do the right thing on the road, after two shocking incidents in the region yesterday.
A 46-year-old woman was allegedly caught driving more than five times over the legal blood alcohol limit, while on her way to pick up her children from school.
Police stopped a Holden Astra on Del Monte Drive at Copacabana just before 3pm, following reports it was driving erratically.
The woman was arrested and taken to Gosford Police station where she allegedly returned a reading of 0.294.
She was charged with high range drink driving and will face court next month.
Earlier in the day police at Somersby chased a Holden Commodore, after the vehicle failed to stop on the M1 at about 10am.
It’s alleged the car reached speeds of up to 150km/ph, before it crashed.
A 26-year-old male driver and 46-year-old male passenger were arrested, driver was charged with dangerous driving and driving unlicensed.
Commander of the state’s Traffic & Highway Patrol Command, Assistant Commissioner, John Hartley, said he was disappointed with the shocking road behaviour.
“Drivers who have been drinking need to think about themselves, their families, and other road users before making such a poor decision that could quite easily cost their own, their passengers, or another life”.
