COMMONWEALTH WORKERS STRIKE IN COFFS HARBOUR
More than 120 staff from Commonwealth agencies took strike action in Coffs Harbour today.
Centrelink, Medicare and child support agency workers are protesting over the Abbott Government’s handling of their wages and conditions claim.
CPSU delegate Greg Vigors said, “I think you can tell a lot about a government by the way it treats its workers and we don’t believe at the moment we’re being treated fairly, all we want is the opportunity to sit down and talk about maintaining our pay and conditions.”
Union members in Coffs Harbour voted in favour of a motion to take further industrial action if necessary.
