Gosford City Council has re-affirmed its commitment to remaining a stand-alone entity, but says if pushed, it’s open to the idea of merging with Lake Macquarie or acquiring part of the Wyong Shire.
Wyong Mayor Doug Eaton says he hasn’t been informed of the proposal, but will support whatever is in the community’s best interests.
The state government has told Wyong and Gosford Councils to discuss joining forces, however Gosford has produced a proposal in opposition to the idea.
