INDIGENOUS TRAINEES WORK ON PACIFIC HIGHWAY UPGRADE
A group of indigenous trainees studying a Certificate Three in Civil Construction, have been given the opportunity to work on the Pacific Highway duplication.
The Federal Minister for Indigenous Affairs Nigel Scullion and Federal Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker inspected the Kundabung to Kempsey upgrade on Wednesday morning, meeting the five locals who will take part in the training.
“It’s a life-changing opportunity and we get our certificate in civil construction cert three and hopefully become a leading hand or a foreman one day.”
The placements are part of a $680,000 investment through the federal government’s Indigenous Advancement Strategy.
