A Lake Macquarie mother of six, who received thousands of dollars from the community after saying she had cancer, is being investigated by police, amid claims it was a scam.
A Facebook page portraying Elizabeth Edmond’s battle with ovarian cancer and requesting donations received enormous support.
Her fiance at the time pleaded for help on a separate fundraising page, yet he later posted he had just been informed she never had cancer.
Money remaining in collection tins will be donated to Sydney’s Westmead Children’s Hospital.
