MAN INJURED IN LIGHT PLANE CRASH
A man in his 60s is in a stable condition in John Hunter Hospital, with chest and head injuries, after crashing his light plane at Putty, in the Hunter Valley, last night.
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority coordinated a search at about 5pm after learning the aircraft was overdue for its scheduled landing at Luskintyre.
A commercial aircraft then detected a distress beacon coming from the Cessna.
A Rural Fire Service volunteer located the plane tangled in trees in a paddock.
The Westpac Rescue Chopper then airlifted the pilot to hospital.
