BUSHFIRE DANGER PERIOD LOOMING AS MERCURY RISES
The bushfire danger period for the lower Hunter starts on Wednesday, but we’re already experiencing hot temperatures and potentially dangerous westerly winds, which will increase in strength tomorrow.
Today hundreds headed to the beach to beat the heat.
The RFS is gearing up for a potentially busy bushfire season, and is asking people to prepare survival plans.
Jayson McKellar from the Lower Hunter RFS told NBN News “It’s unusually warm today and it’s forecast to be even warmer tomorrow however we’ve had pretty good rain leading up to this, these couple of days and it is forecast to change back to cool weather on Wednesday so not overly concerned, certainly not like we were last year.”
