  1. What a shame these people are not looking at the facts and are sensationalizing the recycling of building waste. “Toxic dust”, noone wants this kind of pollution in their area and most certainly the employers do not want to put themselves and their employees at risk. Unfortunately there is a group of people who are stirring up others emotions and the whole situation needs to be looked at on less emotional level.

  2. In reply to the above:
Certainly the residents are emotional over the prospect of living incredibly close to the QUARRY as if the proposal goes through, their health , lifestyle, wealth & the environment will potentially be severely negatively impacted – surrounding communities will also be effected ( such as Terrigal & Avoca- tourist industry spots!!!) with heavy traffic etc. There is a very real probability of pollution to Avoca Lake, as the quarries run off feeds into Avoca Lake – there is already a number of environmental breaches incurred by the owners that are documented!
The residents have done extensive research on all types of recycling & it’s effects on the environment & communities & we are definitely all PRO RECYCLING BUT IN THE RIGHT LOCATIONS. No guidelines at yet have been drawn up by the NSW Govt in regards to locating recycling facilities, but the Western Australian Govt clear guidelines stating the this type of facility should be a minimum of 1000 METRES from residential & other sensitive areas! Therefore this proposal should never off got off the ground, given that surely NSW people & environment deserve at least equal rights with their fellow Australians! The NSW Govt has neglected so far to add this basic planning detail to their guidelines, but hopefully this over site will be rectified soon .
If you would like further information of all the FACTUAL data we have collect we would be happy to pass them on.
Every resident has the same rights as those who have been in the area for 200 years , especially those who have had the privilege of profiting from the environment for the last 60 years! The quarry is virtually not a viable business to run anymore – they are only allowed to extract from the land, not bring in material or operate another business there under ” existing rights use” but to this day they are breaking that condition in 2 instances:
1 Capricorn Quarries is running a sand stone yard from there – advertising on their web site their brand new yard!
2 It is acting as a relay station for material.
    THESE ARE FACTS,

  3. Oops, just correcting the first sentence I wrote in the above , I meant to say : …….the prospect of living incredibly close to a RESOURCE RECYCLING FACILITY…..
Also I think I can speak for most of the residents , that they bought their homes knowing that the quarry was there( & it was almost exhausted) but they didn’t know of the proposal to change the lands zoning to allow for a Resource Recycling Facility!!! It is inconceivable considering 1. The proximity to residential land ( some of which had been sold by the owners of the quarry)
    2. The sites run off feeds into Avoca Lake
    3. The roads feeding into it are routes to tourist areas such ad Terrigal & Avoca. The value of tourism is of much greater value to the community & commerce.
