COURT CHALLENGE BEGINS OVER STEEL FACTORY DECISION
A challenge to Cessnock Council’s decision to approve a steel factory in the Hunter Economic Zone at Kurri, has begun in the Land and Environment Court.
The Friends of Tumblebee group says the threatened regent honeyeater species will be at greater risk of extinction, if three hectares of bushland is cleared for the development.
It also argues that a Species Impact Statement should have been done before council voted on the proposal.
The matter will continue tomorrow.
