Games organisers have extended their condolences to the family and friends of a volunteer, who collapsed and died during the closing ceremony parade of the Special Olympics on Saturday evening.
Darrel Oakley was well known locally for his service in the police rescue squad, and more recently as a retained firefighter at Teralba station.
He had worked on the games over the past two weeks, and was marching with other volunteers in the foreshore event at the time.
