Reigning rugby premiers Hamilton have fallen one try short of a bonus point, with their 27-20 win over Lake Macquarie last night leaving them second on the NHRU ladder, behind the Waratahs.
Lake Macquarie tried to outmuscle the Hawks early, and raced to an eight-nil lead.
But the catch-up round match proved just that for Hamilton… and Eric Vasukicakau opened up the home side twice to help the Hawks win.
They face University next, on June 15, while the Roos have two weeks to prepare to face Merewether Carlton.
