$40, 000 BOOST FOR OVARIAN CANCER AT CALVARY MATER

A boost on Thursday for ovarian cancer research at Newcastle’s Calvary Mater Hospital, with a $40,000 grant handed over by the Hope4Cure Foundation.

Scientists will use the money to help improve the accuracy of treatments, as part of a pilot study.

“We’ve now got a new group of platinum molecules that are a thousand times better at targetting only ovarian cancer cells and no other tumour type and they don’t even affect the growth of normal, healthy cells.” – Dr  Jenette Sakoff, Calvery Mater Hospital.

“Today, being the last day of ovarian cancer month, it’s hoping to finish the month off on a positive note. ” – Karen Howard, Hope4Cure Foundation Chair.
