Former Farrer student Matt Allwood has made an immediate impression at his new club after being named in an extended New Zealand Warriors Auckland Nines squad.
The outside back crossed the Tasman looking for more opportunities after being limited to just 11 appearances for Canberra last year.
The pre-season tournament is seen as a vital step to securing a spot in first grade for round one.
The 22 year old will need to keep working hard though, with the final 18-man team to be finalised next week.
