WORK UNDERWAY TO REPAIR FRONTAL DUNE

Extensive work is underway to rehabilitate the frontal dune along Stockton Beach, which has been damaged by storms and vehicles over the years.
“The whole idea here is to re-establish the actual structure of the dune by the sand using the wind and natural processes by trapping it and then re-establishing that vegetation,” said National Parks Area Manager, Andrew Bond.
The work on the Worimi Conservation Lands is part of a 20-week program, by volunteers from the Green Army.
“They’ve started here for about three kilometres for the northern end up at Ghan Ghan and once this work is completed they’ll be heading down to the southern end of the park,” said Worimi Conservation Lands Deputy Chair, Jamie Tarrant.
