WOMAN CRITICAL AFTER BEING HIT BY CEMENT TRUCK

A 77-year-old woman is fighting for her life after being hit by a cement truck in Charlestown.
She was crossing Smart Street at 7:15 this morning, when she was struck by the truck.
The vehicle was driving to a construction site at nearby Charlestown Square.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage to determine whether the pedestrian light was green, when the woman walked onto the road.
She suffered a broken pelvis and femur, and could lose the lower part of her legs.
She remains in a critical condition at John Hunter Hospital.
