Rewind Series 4 Episode 24 – Christmas 1964
The festive season is a time for giving, a time for sharing and caring for all members of the community.
Charity groups connected locals for friendship and social interaction. Volunteers hit the streets, to collect for those in need. The Salvation Army brightened lives, supporting families facing hardship and Meals on Wheels delivered Christmas dinner to those at home.
Across our region, celebrations gathered people together. Santa arrived in true R.A.A.F. style to the Williamtown Air Base. Residents joined in, enjoying time with Air Force colleagues and their families.
Mechanics at the Goninan’s Workshop put down their tools, a railway theme entertained the kids, it was Sunnyside fun for all and Newcastle wharfies enjoyed time together, to relax and reflect on another
successful year.
Christmas, a time to remember, proudly captured by NBN News in the 1960’s.
