SPOTLIGHT ON HUNTER WETLANDS FOR WORLD WETLANDS DAY

We’re being urged to look after our waterways as part of World Wetlands Day.
Conservationists say the Hunter has seen a decline in the number of shorebirds visiting local wetlands.
“They come from the northern hemisphere all the way here, so there’s things happening all along their flyway. So there’s development in Asia that’s affecting their sites and that’s why it’s important we look after their sites here.”
The Shortland Wetlands and Kooragang Nature Reserve are among just 12 internationally-recognised sites in New South Wales.
