Man stabbed in alleged road rage incident on Central Coast
A man has been stabbed in an alleged road rage altercation on the NSW Central Coast.
Police said a 42-year-old man was assaulted by two other men during the altercation in Kariong, near Gosford, at 8pm yesterday.
One of the men allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the 42-year-old in the abdomen before they both left in a blue Holden Commodore sedan.
Police arrived shortly after.
The alleged victim of the attack managed to get back in his car and drive to a nearby home, where he collapsed.
Residents at that home provided first aid and called paramedics.
He was treated at the scene before he was taken to Gosford Hospital in a critical condition.
He suffered stab wounds to the abdomen.
“It appears to be road-related, we’re still trying to get to the bottom of the actual lead-up to the incident,” NSW Police Acting Crime Manager Evan Davies said.
“At this stage, there’s no indication that the parties are known to each other.”
Davies said the attack most likely took place while the 42-year-old driver was in the car.
Initial investigations suggest he was sitting in his car with the window rolled down when he was attacked, he said.
Police are asking anyone with dashcam footage to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
