A young man was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash yesterday evening in north western New South Wales.
Emergency services were called to the Carnarvon Highway at Ashley, about 18 kilometres north of Moree, after reports of a two-vehicle crash about 10pm Wednesday.
Both of the cars had rolled over.
A man, believed to be aged 27, could not be saved by paramedics and died at the scene.
A passenger inside the car was uninjured and he was taken to Moree Hospital for observation.
The 74-year-old male driver of the other car was also uninjured.
He was taken to Moree Hospital for mandatory testing.
A crime scene has been established and officers attached to New England Police District are investigating the incident.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
The Carnarvon Highway Ashley remains closed in both directions on Thursday morning.
