Rewind Series 4 Episode 15 – Manning River Aquatic Festival
The waters of the Manning provide an abundance of activity for those living in this glorious party of the Mid North Coast.
Local NBN News Cameraman – Lynn Stanfield, captured life across the region, the Manning River Aquatic Festival was a favourite. These scenes from 1968 shows Taree’s Victoria Street packed with onlookers, there to experience the excitement of the parade.
1970 saw a huge crowd too, while the aquatic events on the river proved to be the winner in terms of spectacle. Speed boats, ski displays and graceful sailing craft all helped make the Manning the centre of attention; and our archived film from 1971 includes the raft race, with representation by various service clubs in the area.
