Gumbaynggirr elders refuse to do any future Welcome to Country ceremonies at Jetty Foreshores

A group of Gumbaynggirr elders have taken a strong stance against the State Government’s plans to develop the Jetty Foreshore area, by refusing to do any future Welcome to Country ceremonies.

They claim the government isn’t listening to local Indigenous people and their hopes for the precinct.
