Firefighters urge the Central Coast community to stay vigilant for hydrant vandalism

Police are investigating a spate of vandalism on fire hydrant booster systems, attached to multi-storey buildings in Gosford and its surrounding suburbs.

Firefighters say it’s putting their capabilities at risk… and they’re urging locals to keep an eye out for any suspicious activity.

Senior Gosford firefighter, John McGarvey says “someone is stealing the fire brigade fittings off the booster systems, making them inoperable… stopping crews from being able to move large volumes of water which are required to extinguish a fire.”

Anyone with information or CCTV is urged to contact police.
