Man charged over alleged break and enters in Rutherford
A man will face court today charged with alleged break and enter offences in Rutherford.
Between Sunday July 21 and Monday August 5, officers attached to Port-Stephens Hunter Police District received multiple reports of alleged break and enters at an over 55’s lifestyle village on Waterworks Road.
On Sunday August 11, police commenced an investigation into a break and enter at a home on Ballard Street, Maitland, where a wallet, keys and cards were allegedly stolen.
Following extensive inquiries, a search warrant was executed at a home on the New England Highway, Rutherford, on Sunday August 18.
During the search, police located and seized a number of items believed to have been allegedly stolen during the incidents.
Following further inquiries, police arrested a 29-year-old man in Rutherford about 6.20pm yesterday Monday August 19.
He was taken to Maitland Police Station, where he was charged with three counts of aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – people there, two counts of aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – armed, and robbery armed with offensive weapon.
He was refused bail to appear before Maitland Local Court today.
