Man dies in Clarence River

A man believed to be in his 50s has died after seemingly driving into the Clarence River at Lawrence this morning while trying to board a vehicle ferry.
Members of the public removed the man from his truck and commenced CPR before paramedics arrived shortly after 10am but he was unable to be revived.
Officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District established a crime scene and have commenced inquiries into the incident.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Safe Work NSW has been notified.
The Bluff Point Ferry is closed in both directions: Motorists can consider using Big River Way and Lawrence Road to cross the Clarence River via Grafton.
