Man in Grafton court after woman rundown and multiple vehicles damaged

A man has been charged after allegedly running over a woman, attempting to run over several others and crashing into multiple parked vehicles in rural New South Wales.

The 47-year-old man allegedly crashed a van into a parked station wagon and sedan in the car park of a club on Riverside Drive in Wooli, situated north of Coffs Harbour and southeast of Grafton, about 3pm yesterday.

He then allegedly drove through the glass doors of a home on Banksia Street in Minnie Water, about a 10-minute drive away.

The woman inside managed to escape injury.

Police were told that the man then allegedly smashed into a boat and trailer parked on Acacia Street and failed to stop.

The same driver then allegedly deliberately swerved onto the wrong side of Grevillia Parade, and attempted to hit two women, both aged 48, who were able to jump out of the way and escape injury.

An 80-year-old woman standing on a nature strip was then allegedly deliberately run over by the van after the man tried to mount the curb.

She has been taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital to be treated for abrasions and a suspected fractured rib.

The man then allegedly kept driving to Hiawatha Road, where he tried to run down a 49-year-old woman standing in the driveway of a home.

She managed to jump out of the way but the van struck her SUV.

The man continued and allegedly drove to a store on Sandon Road, trying to force his way in before he was pushed into a staffroom, and was held there until police arrived.

The 47-year-old man was arrested and taken to Grafton Hospital for mandatory testing and was also treated for a hand injury.

He was released into police custody overnight and taken to Grafton Police Station where he was charged with 13 offences including causing bodily harm by misconduct while in charge of a motor vehicle, five counts of destroying or damaging property and driving a motor vehicle manacing another with intent.

The man was refused bail and will appear in Local Court later today.

A man has been arrested at a north coast store, after an alleged rampage.
