Man charged with high range PCA following crash in Maitland

A driver has been charged over an alleged drink-driving following a three-vehicle crash near Maitland yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Maize Street, Tenambit, following reports of a crash around 4:40pm yesterday where they were told that a Ford Territory collided with a Toyota Landcruiser and Suzuki Baleno.

The drivers of the Toyota and Suzuki, a man and woman both aged 29, were taken to the John Hunter Hospital for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The uninjured driver of the Ford, a 42-year-old man, was subject to a roadside breath test which allegedly returned a positive result.

He was arrested and taken to Maitland Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis, which allegedly returned a reading of 0.205.

He was charged with drive with high range PCA, and negligent driving.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Maitland Local Court on Wednesday July 24.
