Man arrested for speeding, altered licence plates, drug possession in Sydney
A 24-year-old man will face court after he was charged with driving and drug offences in Sydney earlier this month.
At about 9.55pm on Sunday, June 2, Highway Patrol officers spotted a silver Holden Commodore allegedly travelling at 120km/h in a 100km/h zone on the M5 Motorway at Bankstown.
Police also noticed the car appeared to have altered licence plates.
Subsequent photos showed that the plates from the car appeared to have been altered, including with some kind of felt pen, to display misleading characters.
Officers alleged that after the driver stopped, he revealed his NSW licence had been suspended in Batemans Bay on the NSW South Coast that afternoon after he failed a roadside drug test.
Police then subjected the man to another roadside drug test, which they claim he failed.
A search of the driver and the Commodore turned up a small back containing what police said were crystal-like substances believed to be drugs.
The man was charged with multiple offences including speeding, using altered number plates, breaching bail, driving while prohibited, and drug possession.
He was refused bail and will appear in court at a later date.
