Two teens charged over alleged pursuit in Newcastle
Two teens will face court today charged over an alleged pursuit near Newcastle earlier this morning.
About 2:50am Wednesday May 29, police were patrolling Newcastle Link Road, Cameron Park, when they attempted to stop a Holden Captiva.
They allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated continuing towards Wallsend and Shortland.
Police lost sight of the vehicle at Waratah West, and the pursuit was terminated.
A short time later, police located the Holden Captiva abandoned on Verulam Road, North Lambton. Inquiries reveal the car was allegedly stolen from a Wallsend address between 6pm on Friday May 24 and 7:30am Saturday May 25.
Following a search of the area, two teenage boys were located in the backyard of a property on Acacia Avenue, North Lambton.
The teens, aged 15 and 17, were arrested before being taken to Waratah Police Station.
Both were refused bail to appear before a children’s court today.
